A super fine mandolin bass, made by gelas in france in 1936, double spruce top as is typical of gelas instruments (see mandolin guitar and hawaiian guitar elsewhere on this site), has a nice low end and mixes very well with an acoustic ensemble. It has an endpin which can be lengthend a bit for upright playing.

A rare and unusuall mandola, made by g. Puglisi e figli in italy, ca 1900. Of spruce and rosewood, ( the back with 3 decorative slices of rosewood in another colour), the front inlaid with mother of pearl flowers. A true short scale mandola. Inside is another set of sides( with holes in it), which keeps the body of the player from stopping the vibrations. I do not find many old italian mandola's and this one is in good playing condition.
